I approached zest around some logo and brand concepts when we won approval from Cricket Tasmania to join the Cricket Tasmania Premier League. We needed to be strong and contemporary. Players, coaches and stakeholders immediately resonated with the design concepts and they became quite the focus for what ‘The Raiders’ stakeholders were after. Our strong orange and grey logo is already prominent on several hundred articles of player clothing and will come to represent Northern Tasmania’s cricket re-emergence for men, women and now under 18s. When it came time to designing tickets for our major raffle to be sold at the 2 Big Bash games and our George Bailey Coterie luncheon in Launceston, Ellie was efficient, detailed and delivered a timely service. We originally went to Zest to get a website developed so that we could sell our lamb online. We arrived with some pretty wild expectations, little knowledge of what we really wanted or was possible, and absolutely zero technological expertise. What is graphic design?
Graphic design refers to the process of bringing text and graphics together to effectively communicate messages and ideas. It can be as simple as business card design through to something more complex like web design.
What can graphic design be used for?
Just about anything! Graphic design is required to produce graphics for all kinds of things including logos, business cards, brochures, posters, banners, signage, websites, email marketing and much more. Our experienced, talented graphic design wizards are able to create exactly what you need, and we're quick.
How does your design process work?
Our design process is straightforward and all we need to get started is the content (think text and images) and a brief (what do you need, are there any specific fonts/colours to be used, what size does it need to be and so on). From there, we’ll work our creative magic and provide an initial proof for you to look over. We will then typically make tweaks as needed, send back another proof for approval and finalise the design so it is ready to go (we call this print-ready).
How long do your design services take?
There’s no simple answer as it depends on the project. A logo design takes approximately 1 to 2 weeks to complete, a business card design is about 1 week start and finish, whilst a website design can take several weeks to design, proof and approve. When you discuss your project with us, we will be able to provide you with a clear timeframe, so you know when to expect completion.
How much does graphic design cost?
This really depends on what you need. We have standard prices for things like logo design and business card design and for just about everything else, we like to discuss your project in detail to give you the best, most cost-effective quote for you to consider. We also charge by the hour, so you are only paying for the time used for your project.
When you design something for me, what do I own?
Great question. As our client you own the final product that we deliver, but the original working files that we've created to produce your final product remain the property of zest. This is standard practice in the design industry.
How do I need to supply my logo/other images for my project?
We have created a ‘cheat sheet’ just for this purpose, check it out here. It runs through which file type to use for what, but in a nutshell, we need high-resolution (ideally vector) files to design with.
